How It Started

While raising our children and supporting my husband’s Naval career, one day - through Divine Intervention, I found myself in a Special Education Classroom as a parent-volunteer. From the moment I stepped into that classroom, my calling has been clear.

Volunteering as Guardian Ad Litem with the State of Florida, I spoke on the behalf of children whose living conditions had been altered due to allegations of familial abuse and/or neglect. This experience cemented my desire to advocate for and work with special needs children. I worked as a paraprofessional in Special Education classrooms, immersing myself into the various techniques and approaches of other Special Educators.

I continued my education at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, FL where one of my Professors encourages future educators to do whatever it takes to make a relevant, meaningful, and effective education for their students. From this prompting, the idea for "Whatever It Takes" was born.
